A message from Aubrey,

One important quality about me is that I enjoy being involved in extra-curricular activities at my school. I am involved in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), NHS (National Honor Society), and FCCLA (Family Career Community Leaders of America), where I volunteer and participate in group activities. In the past, I have also been a crew member for LSW Theater, as well as a Staff Member at Lost in Fun!. I like to be an active member of the clubs I am involved in, which has led me to take on leadership roles. I currently hold the positions of chapter President of LSW FCCLA, and District Career Representative of District #2 Nebraska FCCLA. I have been taking dual-credit classes at The Career Academy, where I represent the Academic Transfer pathway as an ambassador. I like to educate others on the opportunities at their school that can help them build life and leadership skills. Throughout my experiences in these activities, I have made a lot of new friends and become more of an active member in my school and community!

Leadership

District #2 Career Representative FCCLA

For the 2023-2024 school year, I applied, gave a speech, and got accepted to be the Career Representative for District #2 FCCLA. This position includes presenting at the District #2 Leadership Conference and representing the District #2 officer team at the State Leadership Conference on April 7-9, 2024. The District Leadership Conference took place in Seward, Nebraska on October 10, 2023, and I was responsible for hosting a breakout session for attending members. I also spoke at the beginning and closing sessions with the other members of the District #2 leadership team. The officers can be seen lined up in the background behind the Quiz Bowl competition table, and I am the one waving at the camera!

President of LSW FCCLA

For the 2023-2024 school year, I was chosen by my advisors to serve as the President of our FCCLA chapter. Currently, I am the only person in our chapter who has been involved in FCCLA for all four years, including during the 2020-2021 COVID year. I have grown and learned a lot with FCCLA, as I have watched our chapter increase from three members in 2021 to over twenty active members in 2024. From the reconstruction of our officer team to the increase in members attending the State Leadership Conference, I have witnessed and implemented changes alongside my advisors for the past four years. I love getting the opportunity to share my experiences and represent our chapter, as I am passionate about helping students learn about how to get involved in the activities at our school. I enjoy working with our leadership team and presenting our thoughts at chapter meetings!

Competition

FBLA Competitive Study Sessions

The LSW FBLA chapter provides study sessions that allow members to ask questions and have structured time to prepare for their FBLA events. These sessions take place every Tuesday night, from 7:00-8:30. Through my participation in these sessions, I was able to place 3rd in the Marketing testing event at the University of Nebraska Omaha FBLA competition! I also have made use of my time at these sessions studying for the University of Nebraska Lincoln Husker Business invitational, as well as the FBLA competition at Peru State College. The study sessions also allow me to network with other competitive FBLA members in our chapter and learn more about their experience at the State level.

FCCLA STAR Events

FCCLA provides the opportunity to compete in events and projects under the label "Students Taking Action for Recognition." I have participated in STAR since I was a sophomore, where I have earned silver medals at the district and state level for two years in a row. Repurpose and Redesign was the first event I competed in, where I repurposed old clothing into a tote bag. The second event I competed in was National Programs in Action, where I informed my chapter of an award they could apply for to earn recognition at the State Leadership Conference. My junior year project further expands my passion for helping people learn about the opportunities they have to get more involved in extra-curricular activities.
