Work Experience

Lost in Fun!

During my time at Lost in Fun!, I developed a variety of career development skills. Staff members are cross-trained in every area other than their primary positions. I was taught how to operate a cash register, take food orders, host birthday parties, manage a party bill, and sanitize the facility.  I have improved my decision-making, communication, and critical thinking skills by learning how to multitask in a busy environment. Additionally, I have learned how to manage conflict in a professional manner, which includes being patient and understanding toward customers.

Community Service Experience

Trunk-or-Treat

Trunk Or Treat is an annual event hosted by Lincoln Southwest's Student Council in order to collect donations for the Food Bank of Lincoln. In addition to groups from our school's activities and athletics, local business could host a booth at Trunk Or Treat and pass out candy to children and their families. This is a picture of our FCCLA Husker Football booth from 2022.

Food Blitz

The Food Blitz is an annual event hosted by Lincoln Public Schools to collect donations of canned food and other necessities for the People's City Mission. Volunteers stand outside of Super Saver and Russ's Market locations in Lincoln from 8:00a.m.-12:00p.m. and give customers fliers with a list of acceptable items for donation. I have participated in this event for two years in a row with both FBLA and FCCLA. I stood outside of Russ's Market with FCCLA from 8:00-9:30a.m., and then drove to Super Saver to stand with FBLA from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. both years. This is a picture of a few FBLA members and I standing outside of Super Saver.

Teammates Community Outreach

I have presented about FCCLA to spread awareness in the community about the benefits of joining and participating in FCCLA and other clubs like it in high school. I spoke to students and their adult mentors, and after the speech, led an activity decorating cookies.

Center for People's Fall Food Festival with The Career Academy

I volunteered with other students who attend the Lincoln Public Schools focus program, The Career Academy, to help run the Fall Food Festival at Lincoln's Center for People. I got the opportunity to enhance my teamwork abilities by working with other TCA students and volunteers from the community to help customers chose the correct food items, navigate through the festival's activities, and transport their necessities to and from their vehicles.

Fingerprints Child Development Center

For their FCCLA STAR project, two FCCLA members chose to conduct a community service project to benefit Fingerprints Child Development Center. At Lincoln Southwest High School, they collected books to donate to the Little Free Library that they built for the front entrance of Fingerprints. They also led a bookmark and cookie decorating activity to teach children about the importance of reading books. I accompanied the two FCCLA members to take pictures and help out the pre-k students while they did the activities!

Bubbles For Babies

Bubbles for Babies was a fun way to raise money for March of Dimes, an organization that helps financially support premature babies. We sold packs of gum for $2 next to the front entrance of our school for one week. I helped set up and take down the stand at the beginning and end of the week. There were 10 shifts in total, with morning shifts starting at 7:45 - 8:10 and afternoon shifts from 3:00 - 3:15. I have participated in this fundraiser two years in a row, with January 2023 being my first and January 2024 being my second.
